In school you have been busy practicing your flutes, trumpets & clarinets with the Music department (hopefully we can embed some of your music soon – ask Mr Smart & Mr Howe if it is possible!). If you want to compose or make your own Music, here are a couple of sites for you…:
Piano Etudes: seems pretty complicated BUT you can produce some great professional sounding Music!
Jango: I’ve already shared this one with you – AMAZING site where you can make your own radio station AND share with others! Here is a radio station that I quickly put together inspired by Coldplay and others…!
mp3 cutter: a great way to cut clips from songs especially if you have presentations to do for school projects…!!
drumbot: useful if you are a drummer or guitarist or if you want background drums while playing another instrument!
Try them out and share them with the class by sending your creations to gwagrade5@gmail.com…! ALSO – share any other cool Music related sites by commenting below!
A few weeks ago we set the challenge of who can get the best score on Electrocity - a great resource for learning about sources of energy and it’s advantages & disadvantages.
Up to now, as far as I can see, this is the top ten from the G5dragons so far:
I wonder who will be the first over 90 points…? Make sure you use the teacher code (TP19450) and name the school (GEMS World Academy)
Brainpop: basic overview of hundreds of topics explained by an animated Tim & Moby. Currently we are working with a free trial (check with teacher for username & password – although you probably can guess…!)
Mindmeister: an excellent collaborative online mind-mapping tool – perfect way to brainstorm on a topic over the internet
written reflections: I’m sorry – we had to! BUT this MAY be more fun than you think… we are trying to get them onto your own blog space on the GLG (GEMS Learning Gateway)
See a Tagul word cloud below – the great thing with this for YOU (something that wordle doesn’t let you do) is that it let’s YOU search the definition of the word in google by just clicking on the words below!
Can anyone find any other ways to use this ‘cool tool’? Send any examples to gwagrade5@gmail.com and we can share…
An AMAZING resource right here – and SOOOOOOO addictive! I think so anyway…
So that we can keep track of YOUR scores I have registered for a teachers code… Once YOU finish a game (in or out of school over the next few weeks) you will be asked to enter this code:
Some of you are already very knowledgeable about how to be safe, respectful & responsible on the ‘big wide web.’ I also know a few of you could do with a few reminders… Here are 2 FUN sites to learn about how to keep safe on the internet…!
While I was looking through some GREAT student blogs from Hong Kong Academy and Shanghai American School I came across Andrew’s Weebly site. It looks like he is doing an Exhibition right now too and had embedded this fun cartoon about wasting energy from youtube:
G5 Dragons have been struggling with this challenge – can you figure it out…? All you need to do is find what total (from the numbers on the left: 1,3,6,7,9,10) can be made that matches the clues on the right…
Here is a webquest where you can find out information about energy and energy sources… This is a great way of finding out more information on your own!
Another useful resource that we have set up for you is this Energy Custom Search. We have selected only the best and mot relevant sites for you to search through – aren’t we GREAT…?!?!
